Handgun Law Sign Text iconStarting in 2016 many buildings (i.e. government) are required to display the following handgun law sign text. Also, any establishment that wants to exclude guns that are either concealed or openly carried must display the appropriate text. Here is the text copied from the Texas DPS website as of January 4th 2016.

Medical facilities are posting language prohibiting both concealed and open carry. One of our customers opted to just display the open carry language. They are fine if their customers carry in a gun as long as it is concealed.

The following text must be displayed in both English and Spanish.

PURSUANT TO SECTION 30.06, PENAL CODE (TRESPASS BY LICENSE HOLDER WITH A CONCEALED HANDGUN), A PERSON LICENSED UNDER SUBCHAPTER H, CHAPTER 411, GOVERNMENT CODE (HANDGUN LICENSING LAW), MAY NOT ENTER THIS PROPERTY WITH A CONCEALED HANDGUN.

CONFORME A LA SECCIÓN 30.06, CÓDIGO PENAL (PREVARICACIÓN POR TITULAR DE LA LICENCIA CON UNA PISTOLA OCULTA), UNA PERSONA CON LICENCIA BAJO EL SUBCAPÍTULO H, CAPÍTULO 411, CÓDIGO DE GOBIERNO (LEY DE LICENCIAS ARMA DE FUEGO), NO PUEDE ENTRAR EN ESTA PROPIEDAD CON UNA PISTOLA OCULTA.
